What is Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth that is too damaged, decayed, infected or needs to be removed for prosthetic/orthodontic reasons. There are two basic methods: simple and surgical.

  • Simple extraction: Standard method for erupted teeth
  • Surgical extraction: Teeth that are broken, impacted or have complex root shapes
  • It is performed painlessly with local anesthesia
  • The clot is preserved for 24-72 hours after the procedure

Who is it suitable for?

  • Those with severely decayed or broken teeth that cannot be restored
  • When there is a risk of infection spreading
  • When space needs to be created before orthodontic or prosthetic treatment
